Telstra Digital is hiring a Lead Full-Stack Engineer in Melbourne to build customer portals using React, TypeScript, and Node.js microservices.

Telstra Digital Engineering is looking for an experienced Lead Full-Stack Engineer to guide the digital customer self-service platform. You will lead an agile squad designing responsive web applications backed by GraphQL federations and AWS microservices.

As a key member of the team at Telstra in Melbourne, VIC, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Lead architecture: Lead architecture and development of enterprise React / Next.js web applications and Node.js backend services.
• Design Apollo: Design Apollo GraphQL schemas and federated microservice gateways connecting to core telecommunications APIs.
• Enforce strict: Enforce strict TypeScript typing, component library reuse, and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.
• Coach intermediate: Coach intermediate and senior developers through pairing, code reviews, and technical workshops.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Telstra, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 7+ years commercial web development experience with React, TypeScript, and Node.js.
• Demonstrated experience designing high-volume GraphQL or RESTful microservices.
• Strong leadership capabilities in agile scrum environments.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$155,000 – AU$190,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Salary $155,000 – $190,000 + annual short-term incentive + superannuation.
