CommBank is recruiting a Lead Cyber Security Specialist at South Eveleigh to safeguard critical national banking infrastructure.

The Commonwealth Bank Cyber Defense Operations team is seeking a Lead Cyber Security Specialist in Threat Intelligence & SecOps to lead proactive cyber defense and incident response.

As a key member of the team at Commonwealth Bank of Australia in Sydney, NSW, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Lead proactive: Lead proactive threat hunting campaigns across enterprise endpoints and cloud environments.
• Direct major: Direct major cyber incident response operations, conducting root cause analysis and forensics.
• Develop automated: Develop automated SOAR playbooks to accelerate containment of security telemetry.
• Track advanced: Track advanced persistent threat (APT) actor techniques using MITRE ATT&CK.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: CISSP, CISM, or GIAC Certified.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, threat intelligence, or digital forensics.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or OSCP.
• Deep expertise in SIEM tools (Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel) and EDR platforms.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$175,000 – AU$220,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Remuneration package $175,000 – $220,000 + performance bonus + superannuation.
