Atlassian is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our Sydney team. You will drive the development of scalable cloud services and intuitive user interfaces for enterprise collaboration products. Working with high-throughput distributed systems, you will champion code quality, architectural best practices, and developer velocity across our global engineering organization.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Architect and: Architect and develop high-volume, reliable cloud microservices using Java, Kotlin, and AWS.
• Build accessible,: Build accessible, modern, and high-performance frontend interfaces using React, TypeScript, and state management libraries.
• Participate in: Participate in design reviews, peer code audits, and architectural roadmap planning.
• Diagnose and: Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, latencies, and scalability challenges across production clusters.
• Mentor mid-level: Mentor mid-level and junior engineers on modern software design patterns, testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Atlassian, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 5+ years of commercial software development experience with backend systems (Java, Kotlin, or Go) and modern frontend (React/TypeScript).
• Demonstrated proficiency in building microservices deployed on AWS or public cloud infrastructure.
• Solid grasp of relational and NoSQL databases, caching strategies (Redis), and event streaming (Kafka).
• Strong communication skills and passion for collaborative, agile engineering cultures.

At Atlassian, we understand that our people drive our achievements. An outstanding remuneration and wellbeing package is provided in line with Australian benchmarks:

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$165,000 – AU$195,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Competitive salary ($165,000 – $195,000) plus significant RSUs equity grants.
