WiseTech Global is looking for a Database Reliability Engineer to join our core database engineering team in Alexandria. You will maintain and optimize massive relational database systems that process millions of international customs transactions, freight manifests, and bills of lading every hour.

As a key member of the team at WiseTech Global in Sydney, NSW, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Monitor, tune,: Monitor, tune, and optimize enterprise Microsoft SQL Server database clusters.
• Diagnose indexing: Diagnose indexing inefficiencies, query plan regressions, lock contention, and tempdb bottlenecks.
• Design and: Design and test disaster recovery procedures, automated backups, and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
• Collaborate with: Collaborate with software engineers to review database schema designs and heavy T-SQL procedures.
• Automate database: Automate database maintenance, patching, and capacity planning using PowerShell and Python scripts.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at WiseTech Global, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Computer Science, Database Administration, or equivalent experience.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 5+ years of dedicated experience managing high-transaction, multi-terabyte SQL Server environments.
• Expert understanding of SQL Server internals, query execution plans, and storage engines.
• Experience with High Availability / Disaster Recovery (AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Clustering).
• Strong scripting capability for automated database provisioning and telemetry gathering.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$150,000 – AU$180,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Salary $150,000 – $180,000 + performance bonuses.
