Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work

In this capacity, your daily priorities and core technical contributions will center on the following key operational deliverables:

• To stay competitive, you will perform program landscape analysis and examine business trends, while contributing to programs impacting Microsoft. You’ll also identify opportunities to develop and improve programs, surfacing upstream insights when delivery outcomes lag, and drive program strategy definition and project plan creation.
• You will drive strategic alignment across engineering teams, industry advisors, field teams, partners, and customers to design crucial programs from initiation to delivery. You’ll also use subject matter expertise to drive the definition and tracking of success criteria and performance metrics at the portfolio level rather than the individual activity level .
• You will set best practices to define and execute on a landing and communication plan, owning the operating cadences and business rhythms that drive clear outcomes during execution. You’ll also use your subject matter expertise to maintain one consistent playbook and quality standard across the portfolio, and to promote the program and gain buy-in from stakeholders, partners, and customers.
• As you oversee a portfolio of projects, you’ll keep programs data-current and progressing against leadership-agreed milestones, communicating status and risk to stakeholders and holding them accountable to following the schedule. You’ll also drive collaboration between teams and maintain the portfolio hygiene that lets the business scale without operational drift.
• You will provide deep expertise to conduct cost-benefit analyses and capture, analyze, and report defensible, quantifiable business results traceable to customer impact, instrumenting return-on-investment frameworks so performance stays observable. You’ll also optimize the use of data analytics to derive insights and identify risks and opportunities, steward the close-out loop so impact is sustained and handed over after delivery, and drive material capability uplift through AI as you influence change management processes in the organization.

• Professional Background: Minimum of 8 years (96 months) of verified experience directly relevant to business program management or related technical specializations.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 8+ years work experience in program management, process management, process improvement OR equivalent experience
• Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English
• Master’s Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 8+ years program management experience, process management, process improvement OR Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or related field AND 10+ years experience in program management, process management, process improvement OR equivalent experience

• Technical Competence: Demonstrated mastery of programming environments, distributed systems, modern cloud infrastructure, or specialized analytical methodologies relevant to the domain.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an established ability to articulate complex technical architectures clearly to engineering peers and executive stakeholders.
