Sydney Airport is seeking an experienced Airfield Operations & Runway Safety Compliance Manager to join our Aviation Operations team in Mascot. You will be responsible for the safety, integrity, and regulatory airworthiness of parallel runways, taxiways, and aircraft aprons handling over 300,000 aircraft movements annually, ensuring strict adherence to CASA Part 139 standards.

As a key member of the team at Sydney Airport in Sydney, NSW, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Direct 24/7: Direct 24/7 airfield operations reporting teams, pavement inspections, and runway friction testing.
• Manage wildlife: Manage wildlife hazard mitigation programs to prevent bird-strikes on departing and arriving aircraft.
• Enforce Airside: Enforce Airside Vehicle Control rules, ramp safety speed limits, and apron pushback compliance.
• Coordinate emergency: Coordinate emergency response procedures during aircraft emergencies, fuel spills, or hazardous weather events.
• Audit airfield: Audit airfield lighting systems (PAPI, CAT II/III ILS visual aids) in coordination with Airservices Australia.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Sydney Airport, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Operations or substantial aerodrome management experience.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 6+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 6+ years of airside operations experience at a certified primary international or major domestic airport.
• Thorough knowledge of CASA Manual of Standards (MOS Part 139) and ICAO Annex 14 aerodrome regulations.
• Proven leadership capability in managing emergency response and multi-agency airfield protocols.
• Aviation degree or equivalent operational aerodrome certifications.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$145,000 – AU$175,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Package $145,000 – $175,000 + performance bonus + superannuation.
