The Risk Management Group provides an independent, objective oversight function that advises business units on managing credit, market, regulatory, and operational risks across global transactions. In this role, the successful candidate will work alongside seasoned industry professionals to optimize mission-critical processes, manage risk effectively, and deliver commercially impactful solutions across key markets.
Opportunity Overview & Quick Facts
Key Responsibilities & Operational Scope
- Sit within the second line of defence, providing independent oversight, governance and credible challenge of how external fraud risks are managed across the organization’s businesses.
- Spearhead advancing the external fraud risk oversight framework, including policies, standards and governance arrangements, and will challenge the design and effectiveness of first line fraud prevention and detection controls across the end to end customer lifecycle.
- Execute and drive monitor emerging fraud and scam typologies and translate this intelligence into forward looking risk insights to support senior management decision making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to product and business teams, you will act as a trusted risk partner while maintaining independence and ensuring alignment with the organization’s risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
- Actively advance and support executive and governance level reporting, communicating complex fraud risks, control weaknesses and emerging trends to senior management, risk committees and other governance forums.
Candidate Profile & Required Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in second line of defence roles across fraud risk, financial crime risk, operational risk or compliance, with a strong focus on independent oversight, governance and credible challenge.
- Experience developing, drafting and maintaining risk policies, standards and control frameworks, and supporting their implementation through effective second line oversight.
- Capability conducting and reviewing risk assessments, thematic reviews and deep dives, including assessment of inherent and residual risk, control design and control effectiveness.
- A solid understanding of external fraud risk and scam typologies, and how fraud risks manifest across institutional and retail banking products and customer lifecycles.
- Experience challenging first line risk management practices, including governance arrangements, risk acceptance decisions, KRIs and monitoring approaches, in line with risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
- Ability to interpret regulatory expectations and industry guidance and translate these into practical, fit for purpose second line policy and oversight requirements.
- Judgement and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify emerging risks, assess complex risk issues and provide clear, risk based recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing governance ready materials for senior management and risk committees.
- Ability to engage, advise and influence senior stakeholders while maintaining independence and constructive challenge.
- Experience within a global financial institution or professional services/ advisory environment would be advantageous.
- Candidates with strong second line risk, compliance or operational risk experience, but with less direct exposure to external fraud risk oversight & governance, are also encouraged to apply.
- Suitable candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment at Senior Analyst level, with scope to develop deeper external fraud risk specialisation over time.
