Role Overview & Position Context

Airwallex is seeking an exceptional professional to join our Brisbane engineering hub as a DevSecOps Specialist – Automated Pipeline Security & Compliance. In this role, you will help design, build, and operate tier-1 cloud-native systems serving enterprise customers across Australia and international markets. Embed security automation into continuous delivery pipelines, container image scanners, and vulnerability management workflows.

Location: Brisbane, Australia
Package: $178,000 – $218,000 + 11.5% Super
Employment: Full-Time Permanent

Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work

  • Automate static application security testing (SAST) and dynamic testing (DAST) inside CI/CD.
  • Implement automated container image vulnerability scanning and software bill of materials (SBOM).
  • Enforce secret management and automated credential rotation across cloud environments.
  • Partner with development squads to remediate high-priority common vulnerabilities and exposures (CVEs).
  • Develop internal developer platform (IDP) templates that are secure by default.

Required Qualifications & Background

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical industry experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience designing, building, and operating modern cloud-native systems in production.
  • Strong proficiency in modern programming languages, cloud infrastructure automation, and automated testing practices.
  • Proven ability to articulate architectural decisions, lead technical design proposals (RFCs), and mentor fellow engineers.
  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia.
