Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

As the Underground Mining Superintendent at BHP Olympic Dam SA, your primary operational responsibilities and strategic deliverables will include:

• Strategic Execution: Execute complex technical, trade, or engineering tasks with meticulous adherence to engineering drawings, technical specifications, and Australian Standards.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Conduct daily pre-start safety meetings, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) assessments.
• Quality & Standards: Operate specialized machinery, testing equipment, and industrial tools safely, maintaining equipment logs and preventative maintenance.
• Process Optimization: Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure on-schedule milestone delivery.
• Reporting & Compliance: Identify operational bottlenecks, implementing innovative engineering solutions to enhance productivity and safety.
• Continuous Improvement: Uphold strict Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and local council environmental guidelines across active job sites.
• Team Leadership & Support: Complete QA/QC sign-offs, inspection test plans (ITPs), and compliance handovers accurately and promptly.

Candidate Skills, Experience & Qualifications

To succeed in this role and make an immediate impact within our team, we are seeking candidates who possess the following background, qualifications, and personal attributes:

• Formal Qualifications: Recognized Australian Trade Certificate III/IV, Engineering Degree, or nationally accredited vocational qualification.
• Industry Experience: Current Construction Induction Card (White Card) and relevant high-risk work licenses (e.g. Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights) if applicable.
• Technical Competence: Demonstrated prior experience delivering high-quality commercial, civil, industrial, or residential projects in Australia.
• Certifications & Compliance: Uncompromising commitment to zero-harm workplace health, safety, and environmental (HSE) practices.
• Problem Solving & Adaptability: Ability to interpret complex engineering blueprints, technical manuals, and schematic diagrams with precision.
• Interpersonal Excellence: Reliable work ethic, valid Australian driver’s license, and strong teamwork capabilities in active site environments.

Remuneration Package, Workplace Benefits & Culture

BHP Olympic Dam SA believes in recognizing and rewarding exceptional talent. In addition to a highly competitive remuneration package of AU$185,000 – AU$230,000 per annum + 11.5% statutory Superannuation, the successful applicant will enjoy:
