Manage Major Accident Hazard (MAH) barriers, safety instrumentation integrity, and regulatory Safety Cases for world-scale LNG trains at Woodside.

Woodside Energy is looking for an experienced Process Safety & Risk Engineer for the Karratha Gas Plant on Western Australia’s Burrup Peninsula. You will safeguard personnel and multi-billion-dollar LNG cryogenic assets by maintaining the facility Safety Case, leading quantitative risk assessments (QRA), managing Safety Integrity Level (SIL) verification, and ensuring process containment barriers.

As a key member of the team at Woodside Energy in Karratha, WA, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Lead and: Lead and facilitate Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Bow-Tie risk reviews.
• Maintain the: Maintain the facility Safety Case and coordinate with Western Australian regulatory authorities (WorkSafe WA).
• Perform Quantitative: Perform Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), gas dispersion modeling, and blast overpressure simulations (PHAST/FLACS).
• Verify Safety: Verify Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs) in accordance with IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 international standards.
• Lead investigations: Lead investigations into process safety events and near-miss loss-of-primary-containment incidents.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Woodside Energy, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Chemical, Process or Mechanical Engineering + Functional Safety certification (TÜV Rheinland).
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 5+ years of dedicated process safety engineering experience in LNG, petrochemical, or refining operations.
• TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety Engineer certification or equivalent expertise.
• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering.
• Deep comprehension of Major Hazard Facility (MHF) legislation and risk assessment methodologies.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$170,000 – AU$205,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Generous compensation ($170,000 – $205,000) + site allowances + annual company bonus.
