Maximize gold recovery, optimize crushing/grinding circuits, and manage chemical reagent consumption across large-scale mineral processing plants at Newmont.

Newmont Australia is hiring a Metallurgical Superintendent for our Kalgoorlie operations. Leading the plant metallurgy and assay laboratory teams, you will optimize primary crushing, SAG and ball milling circuits, gravity concentration, carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuits, and gold smelting operations to achieve exceptional recovery percentages while upholding world-class safety standards.

As a key member of the team at Newmont Australia in Kalgoorlie, WA, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Manage metallurgical: Manage metallurgical plant accounting, daily metal balancing, and metallurgical reconciliation models.
• Optimize grinding: Optimize grinding comminution efficiency, power utilization, and consumable wear rates (liners, grinding media).
• Lead testwork: Lead testwork programs to optimize cyanidation kinetics, oxygen injection, and carbon activity in adsorption tanks.
• Oversee tailings: Oversee tailings storage facility (TSF) slurry deposition and cyanide destruction (INCO SO2/Air) compliance.
• Direct and: Direct and mentor a team of process metallurgists, plant assay chemists, and operational technicians.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Newmont Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mineral Processing.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 6+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 6+ years of mineral processing or extractive metallurgy experience in gold or base metals processing plants.
• Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Mineral Processing.
• Demonstrated expertise in comminution circuits, CIL/CIP processing, and elution smelting circuits.
• Strong safety leadership and track record managing plant turnaround shutdowns.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$170,000 – AU$205,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Lucrative salary package ($170,000 – $205,000) + site allowances + annual company bonus.
