Build high-speed automated testing frameworks and ensure supreme software quality across Xero’s financial accounting platforms in Perth.

Xero is expanding its Perth engineering hub and seeking an experienced Senior QA Automation Engineer. You will work within agile squads to design, build, and maintain robust end-to-end automation frameworks that guarantee flawless financial computations and prevent regressions across our continuous delivery pipeline.

As a key member of the team at Xero Australia in Perth, WA, you will play a central role in driving excellence, upholding top-tier Australian industry standards, and contributing directly to the strategic milestones of one of the nation’s premier employers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Architect and: Architect and maintain scalable UI and API automated test suites using Playwright, Cypress, and TypeScript.
• Integrate automated: Integrate automated testing gates into GitHub Actions and AWS CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Perform exploratory: Perform exploratory testing, edge-case vulnerability assessments, and performance regression checks.
• Coach software: Coach software developers on writing effective unit and integration tests (shift-left testing).
• Establish quality: Establish quality metrics, bug tracking workflows, and release certification criteria.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Xero Australia, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or relevant industry certification (ISTQB).
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 5+ years of software quality engineering and test automation experience in web applications.
• Expert programming proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Proven track record with modern test frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Jest, or Selenium).
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP protocols, and cloud continuous integration workflows.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$135,000 – AU$160,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Competitive salary ($135,000 – $160,000) + company equity participation.
