The University of Queensland is appointing a distinguished Professor & Chair in Indigenous Education within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit at the St Lucia campus. This identified leadership appointment will drive research, policy advocacy, and community partnerships to elevate First Nations educational success across Australia.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities
In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:
- Provide strategic: Provide strategic leadership in First Nations pedagogical research, securing ARC and international philanthropic funding.
- Guide university-wide: Guide university-wide integration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge systems across faculty curricula.
- Advise federal: Advise federal and state governments on Closing the Gap educational policies and community schooling models.
- Supervise doctoral: Supervise doctoral and postgraduate research candidates in Indigenous scholarship and decolonizing methods.
- Foster enduring,: Foster enduring, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elders and community organizations.
Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience
To be successful in this position at University of Queensland (UQ), candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:
- Mandatory Qualification: PhD in Education, Indigenous Studies, or Social Sciences & Identified First Nations position.
- Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
- PhD in Education, Indigenous Studies, Anthropology, or related discipline.
- This is an equal opportunity designated position: Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage is an essential requirement.
- Distinguished international publication and research track record at Academic Level E.
- Demonstrated authority and cultural standing within First Nations communities.

- Competitive Remuneration: AU$185,000 – AU$220,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
- Academic Level E salary $185,000 – $220,000 + 17% employer superannuation contribution.
