carsales is seeking a visionary Principal Software Architect to lead the enterprise architecture practice across Australia and our international markets. You will define technical blueprints for event-driven systems, domain-driven design, and cloud-native services.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Define enterprise: Define enterprise architecture strategy and technical blueprints across engineering divisions.
• Guide adoption: Guide adoption of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and event-driven architectures with Apache Kafka.
• Advise executive: Advise executive engineering leaders on cloud infrastructure modernization, security, and scalability.
• Lead Architectural: Lead Architectural Review Boards (ARB) and mentor lead engineers across engineering squads.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Carsales.com.au, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• 10+ years software development experience with extensive background as a Principal Architect.
• Deep expertise in event-driven architecture, distributed systems, and AWS cloud ecosystem.
• Exceptional technical communication, storytelling, and executive stakeholder alignment skills.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$180,000 – AU$225,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Executive package $180,000 – $225,000 + performance bonus + superannuation.
