The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join our busy Trauma and Acute Surgery ward in Parkville. You will care for major trauma admissions, poly-trauma stabilization, and complex general surgical patients within a tertiary academic healthcare setting.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities

In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:

• Provide high-acuity: Provide high-acuity nursing care for multi-trauma admissions and complex post-operative surgical patients.
• Manage surgical: Manage surgical wound care, negative pressure wound therapy (VAC), and post-op drain management.
• Administer scheduled: Administer scheduled IV analgesia, antibiotics, and blood component transfusions under hospital protocols.
• Monitor patient: Monitor patient neurological, cardiovascular, and surgical observations, recognizing clinical deterioration.
• Coordinate patient: Coordinate patient discharge planning and rehabilitation handovers with multidisciplinary teams.

Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience

To be successful in this position at Royal Melbourne Hospital, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:

• Mandatory Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing & Current AHPRA Registration.
• Relevant Experience: Minimum 2-5 Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
• Unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
• Minimum 2 years acute surgical, trauma, or emergency nursing experience in an Australian hospital.
• Demonstrated clinical assessment and aseptic wound management skills.
• Current Victorian Working with Children Check and National Police Check.

• Competitive Remuneration: AU$89,000 – AU$106,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
• Salary $89,000 – $106,000 + 11.5% super + generous public hospital shift penalties.
• Full salary packaging benefits up to $15,900 tax-free per annum.

• Leave Entitlements: 4 weeks annual leave (with 17.5% annual leave loading where applicable) plus 10 days paid personal/carer’s leave.
