Coles Digital is currently seeking an exceptional, highly accomplished Principal Data Architect – Enterprise Data Mesh to join our dynamic, industry-leading team in a 100% Remote / Work-from-Home (WFH) capacity anywhere across Australia.

In this high-impact position, you will work collaboratively across distributed teams to deliver world-class outcomes, champion operational innovation, and support organizational growth while enjoying total geographic flexibility within Australian time zones.

Key Duties & Core Performance Indicators (KPIs)

As our Principal Data Architect – Enterprise Data Mesh, your primary responsibilities will center on delivering strategic and operational excellence across the following key areas:

• Strategic Execution: Architect, develop, and execute sophisticated projects and initiatives aligned with strategic organizational milestones and Australian regulatory frameworks.
• Asynchronous Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional distributed teams, product owners, engineering squads, and enterprise executive leaders using Slack, Jira, Zoom, and modern documentation tools.
• Quality & Governance: Ensure all work outputs strictly satisfy rigorous Australian enterprise quality benchmarks, compliance protocols, and industry security guidelines.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify operational bottlenecks, introduce automated optimizations, and champion continuous learning within a forward-thinking culture.
• Stakeholder Communication: Present technical concepts, strategic progress reports, and key performance metrics with clarity to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Skills, Technical Expertise & Qualifications

To succeed in this challenging remote role, candidates must demonstrate the following technical capabilities, relevant qualifications, and competencies:

• Demonstrated commercial experience working within a modern high-scale technology, financial, healthcare, or corporate environment.
• Relevant tertiary degree in a relevant discipline or demonstrable equivalent practical industry expertise.
• Demonstrated self-drive, disciplined autonomy, and time management essential for high productivity in a 100% remote working environment.
• Outstanding written and verbal English communication abilities with a collaborative, empathetic teamwork ethos.
• Valid Australian work rights (Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or appropriate full Australian work visa).
