UNSW Sydney’s world-renowned Quantum Computing research group is seeking a Senior Quantum Computing Systems Hardware Engineer to join our team in Kensington. Working on groundbreaking silicon spin qubit architectures, you will design, micro-fabricate, and characterize multi-qubit devices in milliKelvin dilution refrigerators, driving the engineering scale-up towards fault-tolerant quantum computers.

Key Duties & Core Responsibilities
In this critical role, your operational duties and key performance responsibilities will encompass:
- Design and: Design and operate ultra-low noise microwave and RF control circuits for high-fidelity silicon qubit gate operations.
- Operate and: Operate and maintain cryogenic dilution refrigerators operating at base temperatures below 10 milliKelvin.
- Perform precision: Perform precision nano-fabrication in class-100 cleanrooms using electron-beam lithography (EBL) and atomic layer deposition (ALD).
- Execute automated: Execute automated quantum benchmarking protocols (randomized benchmarking, gate fidelity measurements, tomographic state reconstruction).
- Collaborate with: Collaborate with quantum software engineers to interface hardware qubits with control firmware and error correction codes.
Required Qualifications, Licenses & Experience
To be successful in this position at UNSW Sydney, candidates are expected to satisfy the following essential selection criteria:
- Mandatory Qualification: PhD in Quantum Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nanotechnology or Applied Physics.
- Relevant Experience: Minimum 5+ Years of verified industry experience in Australia or recognized overseas equivalence.
- PhD in Quantum Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nanotechnology, or Applied Physics.
- Hands-on laboratory experience operating dilution refrigerators and high-frequency microwave electronics.
- Proficiency in quantum device modeling, RF signal generation, and Python hardware control automation.
- Strong track record of scientific excellence and collaborative experimental discipline.

- Competitive Remuneration: AU$150,000 – AU$180,000 per year + standard Australian Superannuation (11.5%).
